Comfortable heating also depends on how you use the thermostat. With a Bulex boiler, the aim is to coordinate heating times, the requested temperature and radiator controls. This guide helps you prepare consistent settings for your Brussels home without changing parameters intended for the installer.

Identify the thermostat and what it controls
Record the thermostat and boiler references. A programmable thermostat, a connected controller and a simple room thermostat do not necessarily offer the same functions. Matching brand names alone do not confirm compatibility: the exact references and documentation must be checked.
The temperature on the display may be the room measurement or your target temperature. Identify both in the manual. Before suspecting a fault, check the current operating mode: automatic schedule, manual setting or absence mode.
Coordinate the thermostat and radiator controls
The reference thermostat and radiator valves need to work together. Their interaction depends on the installation, particularly where separate heating zones are used. Ask the technician which valve positions are appropriate in the room containing the thermostat.
Avoid hiding the thermostat or radiators behind furniture or heavy curtains. Report unusual influences near the controller, such as direct sunlight, draughts or another heat source. Do not move a wired control yourself to correct its readings.

Build a straightforward schedule
Start with your actual routine: waking, leaving, returning and bedtime. Set up a clear programme, then observe comfort over several days. Response time varies with the building and heat emitters, so copying a neighbour’s exact schedule is not a reliable approach.
- Check the controller’s day and time.
- Identify when the home is occupied.
- Choose temperatures appropriate for the occupants.
- Change one setting at a time.
- Record the result before making another adjustment.
For a longer absence, follow the manual’s instructions on absence mode and frost protection. Do not switch supplies off at random and assume that every protective function will remain active.
Distinguish room temperature from water temperatures
The temperature you want in the living room is different from the temperature of water sent around the heating circuit. It is also separate from the domestic hot water setting. These parameters serve different purposes and should not all be changed together without understanding their roles.
Some heating controls manage certain parameters automatically. Do not alter installer menus, wiring or gas settings. If you want a connected thermostat, have compatibility, any wireless range requirements and the functions actually available on your boiler checked first.
Know when to arrange a check
A blank screen, a clock that loses its setting, commands that have no effect or persistent discomfort should be described precisely. For battery-operated models, follow only the user replacement instructions. A connection warning alone does not prove that the boiler is faulty.
Prepare photos of both devices and your current programme before requesting a Bulex heating check. In Jette, Anderlecht and the other Brussels municipalities, your request can be assessed according to the home’s layout. During maintenance, also mention any difficulties using the controls.
Frequently asked questions
Will a connected thermostat work with every Bulex boiler?
No. Compatibility and available features must be checked for the exact boiler and controller references.
Can a programme change guarantee energy savings?
No. Results depend on the building, heating system, habits and weather. Compare comfort and consumption under comparable conditions.
Should I raise the target sharply when I feel cold?
First check the mode, schedule and actual heating request. A very high setting does not correct a fault or uneven heat distribution.
