Your Bulex boiler appears to be working, yet one radiator or several rooms stay cold. This does not automatically mean the boiler itself has failed. The thermostat’s heating request, accessible controls and heat distribution need to be considered together. These observations will help you prepare a heating visit in Brussels.

One cold radiator or the whole home?
First describe the extent of the problem. Is it one bedroom, an entire floor or every radiator? Note whether domestic hot water still works. This distinction helps the technician organise checks, but it does not identify a faulty component on its own.
Also consider when the problem started: after a schedule change, on returning from an absence or following work on the installation. A radiator cooling down once the target temperature has been reached is not necessarily faulty. The important points are comfort and the response to a genuine heating request.
Check the user controls
Check the time, programme and desired temperature on the thermostat. Consult the boiler manual to confirm that space heating is enabled. If a radiator valve is closed, adjust only its normal user control. Do not force a stuck part or dismantle the valve head.
Allow the home time to respond. Changing several settings at once makes the result harder to interpret. Record each adjustment and what happened afterwards. For communal heating, contact the building manager before touching anything outside your own user controls.

Information that makes diagnosis more useful
Prepare a simple room-by-room record. A precise description is more useful than a conclusion such as “the pump has failed”. Different causes can produce similar symptoms, and technical checks need to be carried out on site.
- Which rooms reach the desired temperature?
- Does the problem occur only at certain times?
- Are there unusual noises, visible leaks or error messages?
- Does the pressure change unexpectedly?
- Was any work carried out before performance changed?
Photograph the display and boiler reference, then explain these observations when requesting Bulex heating repairs.
Why bleeding a radiator is not a universal solution
Trapped air may be one of the things a technician checks, but a cold radiator does not always need bleeding. Circulation, valves and heat distribution may also need attention. Avoid repeatedly bleeding radiators without understanding why the problem returns.
Bleeding can release hot water and alter circuit pressure. Only do it under the conditions specified in your instructions and if you understand the user procedure. Otherwise, let a professional handle it. Do not dismantle the pump or change the boiler’s service settings.
Restoring more even comfort
During the appointment, show the affected rooms and the controls you use. The technician can assess whether an adjustment, repair or wider circuit check is appropriate. Persistent differences between floors call for an assessment of the installation, not just the boiler.
In Brussels homes, extensions and changes in room layout can complicate heat distribution. After any work, ask which settings to retain and which symptoms to watch for. Boiler maintenance supports ongoing care, but does not replace diagnosis of poor circulation or uneven heating.
Frequently asked questions
Can the heating have a problem even if hot water still works?
Yes. Domestic hot water and space heating respond to different demands. Describe separately what works and what does not.
Should I turn the thermostat up to its maximum?
No. Check an appropriate target temperature and the schedule. An excessive setting does not identify the cause of uneven heating.
Does one cold radiator mean I need a new boiler?
No. First investigate whether the cause is local or affects the wider installation before considering replacement work.
