HEATING ADVICE · BRUSSELS

The Bulex MagnaAqua produces domestic hot water by extracting heat from air with an integrated heat pump. It may be worth considering during renovation, but installation requires more than an empty space for a cylinder. Capacity, airflow, noise and reheating time must suit the property and household demand.

An appliance for domestic hot water
A heat pump water heater warms a stored supply for showers, baths and taps. It is not a heat pump that heats the home’s radiators. Depending on the model, programme and operating conditions, supplementary electric heating may be used.
The MagnaAqua range includes wall-mounted and floor-standing versions with different capacities. The quotation should state the full reference. Dimensions, connections and installation conditions cannot be inferred from the product name alone. A manual for a different version does not validate the proposed arrangement.
Assess the air route and condensate drainage
The appliance takes heat from air and discharges cooler air. The professional checks where that air comes from, where it goes and which duct arrangements the manual allows. In a heated room, the extracted heat may have been supplied by the home’s heating system. The energy assessment needs to account for this.
Condensate drainage and maintenance access also need attention. A closed cupboard is not automatically suitable. Room volume, clearances and operating limits depend on the chosen configuration. A general rule cannot replace the instructions for the exact model.

Match storage with recovery time
Comfort depends on the hot water available during peak demand and the time needed to reheat it. Several long showers in quick succession may call on supplementary heating more than spread-out use. Compare performance under the conditions actually expected.
Explain your schedule, outlet flow rates and occasional extra demand. A programme favouring certain hours may be useful, but it must allow enough heating time. With solar panels, the overlap between generation and demand needs assessment. Hot water does not automatically become free.
Include noise, weight and the complete budget
The fan and compressor produce operating noise. Consider proximity to bedrooms, the support and the ducts. Check filled weight and delivery access before ordering.
The appliance price is not the entire project cost. Include hydraulic and electrical adaptations, any ducts, drainage and commissioning. Savings depend on use, available air, supplementary heating and the system replaced. Efficiency measured in a test condition does not guarantee a particular energy bill.
Prepare a coherent project in Brussels
Gather photographs and dimensions of the space, the current appliance reference and the position of accessible drains. During an assessment of your Bulex installation, explain whether hot water should become independent of the boiler or form part of a wider renovation.
Ask for operating instructions, the initial programme and planned maintenance tasks. If the main issue is a recent temperature decline, a check of the existing hot water system remains useful before deciding that a different technology is needed.
Frequently asked questions
Does a MagnaAqua also heat radiators?
No. It produces domestic hot water. Room heating is handled by another system.
Can it be installed in any basement?
No. Air, dimensions, drainage, support and operating limits must meet the selected model’s instructions.
Are savings the same in every home?
No. The replaced system, air temperature, demand and supplementary heating all affect the result.
